In a tough transition period of my life Roxy has lead me back to yoga, which until now I have only dabbled in. She's never afraid to share with me her life experiences, haps and mishaps, and her goals for the future. It's inspiring to chat with her over a nice spicy tuna roll. In class she is very conscious of the group energy and general feeling, and is quick to adjust a routine for the need. Safety definitely comes first, but she also encourages you to push yourself and I have surprised myself at times with what I can accomplish in the moment, maybe just one more yogi push-up.
Roxy has encouraged me to try different teachers and styles of yoga, but my favorite will always be our girl's Friday night Strong Vinyasa and sushi nights while the boys are out on the mountain. Yoga has given me a tool to direct and sustain my energy for finding a way to stay here in "the happiest place on earth." Strong Vinyasa allows me to breathe through the asanas with enough pace and challenge to keep my focus in the moment.
Thanks Rox, for the yogi love, and for busting out in a rock song anywhere :)

I really should have written a testimonial a long time ago about my yoga instructor, Roxanne Banta. I say MY yoga instructor because I was her first student, and am still a loyal follower. I was lucky enough to be used as a guinea pig before she taught classes. I have enjoyed watching (or shall I say experiencing) her grow as a teacher from day one. I'm so lucky to be a part of her classes and gain knowledge from her serious yogi skills. However, I do miss the free private classes in her studio apartment living room, even if I did get poked in the eye from time to time. Her class is fast paced and will kick your ass - but she is still aware of newbies and helps them through the beginning stages of yoga. Roxy lets you be where your body is that day, giving modifications so that you don't push so hard. Although, when she gets to know you, she can tell when you're slacking off and will call you on it, as I have been many times before. Roxy is constantly learning new ways to teach and keep her classes fresh, by going to Yoga Journal for a business trip or taking Teacher's Training with Shiva Rae. I know this because I have taken care of her cat, Bruce when she has been out of town. :) I am not just saying all of this because she is one of my best friends. I am writing this testimonial because I can now touch my forehead to my knees, hold standing bow pose without looking ridiculous, do countless numbers (ok....maybe 10) of pushups at a time, have perfected my chaturangas, and will hopefully have awesome arms for my wedding dress in October of this year. Thank you Roxy for being my friend, my Maid of Honor, and my kick ass yoga instructor!

Roxy does a seriously good job at designing and leading a challenging, fun, and not injuring, yoga class. Expect to sweat. And have fun. And clear your mind ..

Roxy's lighthearted and challenging approach has made it easy to make a habit of healthy exercise. Her "desk dweller" segments have alleviated and prevented the return of wrist and shoulder pain associated with my computer based job. I often feel a thrill of joy when I realize its time to go to Roxy's class. Thank you Roxy, for the well-being you bring to my mind, body, and spirit.

Roxanne teaches in a style that is fun, relaxed, and respectful. She encourages me to push myself. For the first time ever, I was able to kick into a forearm headstand! I like to say that I have the flexibilty of a brick. But thanks to yoga, and Roxanne's classes, I'm more flexible today than even just a few months ago!

Roxy,

I am very thankful for the regular classes and the interest you take to teach this amazing yoga to everyone. Though I know about the benefits yoga and tried many times I was not consistent at you’re your classes brought real benefits to my life, especially I overcame the side effects of my recent thyroid goiter surgery. I still remember when I started how much I was scared and struggled to do it. In fact I would not have given a try if it is not triggered by you. My confidence about my body is improved and mind is relaxed very much and I am more flexible now than before. When I went to Bikram yoga, SLO they said am doing pretty good for the beginner level. That credit goes to you. Thanks a lot.

Roxy's yoga classes are awesome. I've always been a bit indifferent about yoga - I'd taken a couple classes at the gym ... but it never really felt like a workout I would choose over my regular gym routine. Roxy's power yoga classes completely changed my opinion. I love her class and have completely replaced my Thursday gym routine with it :) Its not just the yoga itself that is great though, it's Roxy's teaching abilities in general. Her presence makes you feel really comfortable with your body and the poses you are doing, and she is very down to earth and welcoming - which is not a trait I had come to expect from most yoga teachers. Kudos to Roxy for showing me that yoga can actually be a fun, enjoyable and kick-butt workout!

I don't think I have ever sweat as much as I have in Roxy's Power Yoga class on Thursday nights. She knows how to push you to your outermost limits, yet keep a fun, easygoing environment at the same time. Not only have I increased my flexibility, but Roxy has helped me calm my mind as well, which is very important after a stressful day at work! Keep up the awesomeness Roxy, you have definitely made a lifetime yogi out of me!
